Heather Staley

DD Information Manager for the Defence Force - NZDF

Heather has experience in promoting behaviour change, and in some cases technology adoption, from her professional experience in the occupational safety and health, and energy efficiency and conservation roles.

Heather’s current role focuses on increasing the information management maturity for asset management of the Defence Estate and Infrastructure. NZDF is poised to undertake significant new capital as part of a programme to regenerate major portions of the estate. It is essential that the information that will support better long term asset management actions and decisions are captured as part of this regeneration programme. BIM is expected to be a significant source of this information.

Heather has worked in and around the Wellington public sector for almost 30 years, using a combination of her economic and management training.  She also has a range of corporate governance experience, as an Assistant Company Secretary, Chief Executive and head of a Crown entity monitoring function as well as understanding how these principles apply to claimants within the Treaty Settlement process.
