Brian is a BRANZ Building Environmental Scientist specialising in whole building simulation. He specialises in calculating the environmental impact of buildings using Life Cycle Assessment, as well as the indoor internal environmental quality of New Zealand homes and its associated cost and benefits.
With a background in Architectural Design and a Master of Building Science degree, Brian utilises his BIM and research skills working with building designers to integrate Building Life Cycle Assessment into their design processes and workflows on real building projects.
In the coming year Brian is working on the future direction of environmental and climate change research in the building industry, through projects such as the International Energy Agency Annex 72 - Assessing Life Cycle Related Environmental Impacts Caused by Buildings. Through his research, Brian is bringing New Zealand’s leading research and industry practices on BIM for Life Cycle Assessment to an international stage.
