Closing the Asset Data Gap: Transforming Handover from an End-of-Project Activity to an Integrated Delivery Process
Asset data handover remains one of the most persistent challenges in infrastructure delivery, often delaying operational readiness and creating significant rework after project completion. This presentation shares how Hamilton City Council’s Waiora Water Treatment Plant project transformed this process by embedding asset data capture and validation into construction workflows, delivering verified asset information approximately two years earlier than traditional approaches. Attendees will gain practical insights into how digital tools, collaboration, and process innovation can improve asset quality, accelerate handover, and deliver better lifecycle outcomes across infrastructure projects.
